So let's see...it's been awhile since I posted. Shame on me.
Let me catch you up.
In September, we loaded up a moving truck and moved out of our 2-story, 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house into an apartment. Joey is 8 so I figured he was old enough to drive the moving truck.
Obviously, I'm kidding. I got to drive the truck. Good times.
Moving into an apartment is not what I wanted to do at all. But it was the only option so that's where we are.
I guess I've been in kind of a funk since we moved. I haven't really decorated anything, I didn't even decorate for Halloween. Gasp! I know! There are positive things to living in an apartment and I don't hate it but I just loved living in my house. I really miss the old neighborhood, like REALLY miss it. BUT I am learning to like the apartment.
We have 2 full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, a dishwasher, central A/C (not that I need that now, it's getting really cold out), a full size washer and dryer right off of the kitchen. It's small and I don't have much storage space at all but it's nice enough and will work for now. Also, the apartments are fairly new so they look pretty nice. I think they were built in 2007.
It was high time for me to get out of my funk!!! I have been thinking about what I really love to do and what I want to continue doing even though I'm not in my house anymore. I love blogging. I love making a nice home for my kids and myself. I don't need a house to do that. Home is where we are. Right?
This weekend, we started decorating for Christmas. The tree is up. It's still a work in progress. We're not a "put it all up in one day" kind of decorating family. It will probably take another week before the apartment is fully decorated.
The kids put all of the ornaments on. We probably need to move a few around and add some more but like I said...it's a work in progress. :)
One of the positive things about our apartment is we have our own private entrance. So I was able to hang my shiny tinsel Christmas wreath that I made last year.
So for this season in my life, I will be making an apartment home.
Hopefully you will all stick around to see my progress. :)

Carmen, love that you are back to blogging. The apartment decorations look terrific. A funk can really rattle your desire to post. I hope that you can continue posting for those of us who love your ideas.
And here's a little thought for the day from Becky Higgins---Part of cultivating a good life is appreciating where you live. Sure, there are other places you could be happy but BE HAPPY WHERE YOU ARE.
This really rang true with me when I read it yesterday. Thought you might enjoy it, too.
Carmen, I'm PROUD of you for making the best of the situation! We don't always get to be exactly where we want to be, but you're right--YOU can make a HOME for yourself and your loved ones no matter where it is. I'm quite sure you'll have things looking lovely. And I'm so glad you're getting out of your funk--it's great to hear from you! :)
Hi Carmen ... boy it really has been a long time for you! I can totally relate to the funk though and getting out of the groove of blogging. Sometimes when life seems overwhelming that is something that just need to be put on the back burner.
It sounds like you have a good attitude now about the move. That is always a hard adjustment ... I was telling my kids not too long ago that apartment living didn't sound so bad to me. Less room, yes, but also less expenses and less maintenance than a house. The decorations look fantastic and I am sure that in NO TIME you will have it looking cute and just like "home."
Nice to see you back online! ;)
Your tree looks so bright and beautiful. In fact, I was looking at it and thinking that I really need put mine up. Love your decorations. :)
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're back!!!
Welcome back, friend!!!
You.were.missed.
Your decor is coming along great! And I love the truck driving photo! Too fun! I hope that you embrace this wonderful season in your new place and are thankful for the things most important to you...because it doesn't matter where you live but who you spend life with! Glad to see you are back! xo
Hey Girlie! I missed ya!! Glad you're back and I love your decorations!!
What a beautiful tree!
I've been trying to talk my friend into getting into an apartment...She is so overwhelmed with her home and the stress of being single and trying to keep up with everything.
I hope you are doing well in your new place! Glad to see you back in blogland!
